The imagery conjured by his poems of mountains and dense forests have given readers the vicarious experience of being outdoors without ever leaving the comfort of their homes. Modern times have seen the advent of mechanization in logging and sawmilling. This means that more lumber and wood products can be created from trees, and with less waste. Some would probably say that this does not bode well for the environment. However, responsible loggers are taught to be eco-friendly, planting new varieties of trees in exchange for those which have been cut down. In this manner, the cycle of life in the forest would continue, so that we can still enjoy tranquil, snowy evenings in the woods.
